Q, What types of wood are available for the house signs?
A, We currently offer two types of hardwood for your sign - Oak (Quercus) which is a light colour, and Sapele (Entandraphragma Cylindricum, a member of the Mahogany family) which is a rich dark colour.
Q, How many letters can I have in the text for the house signs?
A, We do not charge you per letter, so the only restriction on lettering is the space available on the plaque. Signs which have a raised number as well as text obviously have less space available. The maximum number of letters available would be approx 20. Lettering sizes will always be made to fit your sign in the most logical and aesthetic way possible.
Q, Do I have to have a house number? I really just want my own text.
A, That's one of the great things about Signs and Numbers - you do not have to have the raised numbers if you don't want them. Although most plaques are used for house signs, you can have any text that you want.
Q, Are my Credit Card details safe?
A, Signs and Numbers will never have access to your credit card details. All transactions are processed through PayPal or Google Checkout using the Roman Cart shopping cart. Click on the PayPal logo and the Google Checkout logo at the bottom of our home page for more information.
Q, Do I need to sign up to PayPal to order online?
A, No, you can use PayPal for a one off purchase using your credit card without signing up for a PayPal account. Alternatively you do have the option to sign up at the time of purchase if you are not already an existing customer.
Q, What is Google Checkout?
A, With Google Checkout, you can quickly and easily buy from Signs And Numbers and many other stores across the web using Visa, Mastercard etc.
If you have used Google Checkout before, all you need to do is provide your Checkout username and password to buy from us.
If you are using Google Checkout for the first time, you only have to fill out a single page of information to make your first purchase. After that, you just need to enter your Google Checkout login to make a purchase.
There is no need to re-enter your purchase information or create multiple usersnames and passwords each time that you buy from different sites.
When you buy with Google Checkout, you can track all your orders in one place and shop with confidence knowing that Google protects you from unauthorised purchases
Q, What maintenance is required for the house sign?
A, Wood is a natural product which will change colour and weather, that's all part of its beauty. To prolong the life of the sign, each year rub it gently with fine wire wool and then apply a coat of Danish Oil using a lint free cloth. Alternatively, leave it to nature to get that rustic weathered look.
Q, Do you supply fixings with the house sign?
A, Yes, all signs are supplied with brass screws and standard wall fixings.
Q, Can I return a personalised item for a refund?
A, As the signs are personalised, they can only be returned for a refund or replacement if the item arrives damaged . Please contact us immediately if this is the problem. This must be done within three days from the time of delivery.
Q, Can I cancel my order or change my mind?
A, It is not possible to cancel or change personalised orders once they have started the manufacturing process. However if the order has not gone into production when we receive your request we will endeavour to meet your request for changes or cancellation.
